Top 25 Missouri high school boys basketball rankings (2/7/2024)

A 14-game winning streak ended with a three-point loss to Lee’s Summit West. They are still the premier team in Kansas City thanks to the play of Caleb Estes and Corbin Allen. Both hit the 1,000-point mark since the previous rankings were released.

In an 85-80 win over St. Mary’s at the Sixth Man Shootout, 6-foot-5 senior forward Jadis Jones recorded an impressive a double-double with 39 points and 15 rebounds. The Eagles are on a 15-game winning streak with four games left in the regular season.

A pair of 90-point games helped the Dragons extend their win streak to nine in a row and Zyree Collins had 69 points in those two wins. Dragons suffered a setback with the loss to New Madrid County Central.

The Wolverines lost to UIL Class 4 No. 2-ranked Oak Cliff Faith Family at the Quincy (Ill.) Shootout, but won four of the next five. However, Chaminade pulled a 61-57 upset on Jan. 30 at Vashon.

The top-ranked team in Class 5 is just dominating foes this year. The Bulldogs are averaging 84 points per game and a majority of those wins have been nearing the turbo-clock territory.

De Smet handed the Griffins their second loss in a three-game span on Jan. 19. Vianney responded by winning three straight and scored 95, 85 and 72 in those games. Junior guard Luke Walsh is scoring 23.8 points per game.

Vernell Holt Jr. and Tate McCubbin had 21 points apiece in a 76-39 win over Southern Boone on Friday in the third-place game at the Southern Boone Classic. During a 5-1 stretch since the last rankings, they beat previous fourth-ranked Kickapoo and lost to Ft. Zumwalt South in the semifinals of the aforementioned tourney.

The No. 3-ranked team in Class 5 has a six-game winning streak heading into the first full week of February. The Rams are incredibly balanced with three players scoring 10 or more points — and one instance of four — in five of the six wins.

Playing at Vashon on Jan. 27, the Statesmen got a big win by knocking off Springfield Central. The No. 4-ranked team in Class 5 got a double-double from senior forward Iziah Purvey with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

The Bulldogs secured their first win over Kickapoo since 2009 on Jan. 30. Keion Epps (19), Tyrique Brooks (14) and Devin Sanford (12) all had double figures in the 11-point win over the Chiefs.

Since the last rankings, the Chiefs lost to Battle and Springfield Central, both teams ranked in our top 25. Jackson Shorter, Shaun Campbell and Brock Thompson are shooting more than 53% percent from the field for the Chiefs.

The Knights were hammered by Cardinal Ritter on Jan. 18 — 56-27 — but won five of the following six. The only hiccup came against No. 5 Sikeston, a 12-point loss in the Union Tournament on Jan. 27.

The Bombers have won eight in a row — after having a nine-game streak earlier in the season. John Burroughs has been led by sophomore forward Tristan Reed (18.1 points per game), but sophomore forward Sheek Pearson, senior guard Ramzi Salem and junior guard Owen Walther are averaging between 14 and 11 points per game as well.

The Titans have won five of their last seven games, including a win over No. 1 Oak Park on Feb. 3. Senior guard Chaz Watson had 14 points in that win — a bounce back after a loss to defending Class 6 champion Staley on Jan. 30.

The Hornets went 2-1 in their home tournament before losing Kansas Class 6A No. 2-ranked Shawnee Mission Northwest in the final. Then, No. 1 Oak Park beat them 70-61.

The Rebels opened up the defense of their MAAA Conference Tournament title with a win on Feb. 5, 71-37 against Fredericktown for the second time in 5 days. In a 61-60 loss to MICDS, senior guard Jobe Bryant dropped 32 points on Feb. 1.

The Flyers have been up and down since the last rankings with a 2-2 mark. Quinn Sunderland scored in double figures in three of the past four games.

Chaminade has now lost to teams from Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Kentucky and Illinois. However, the young Red Devils beat Vashon and CBC in back-to-back games.

The Panthers got 30 points each from Jermarquis Burse and Sawyer Huff in a win over Caruthersville on Jan. 30. In a win against Fredericktown, Ty Harlow was the team’s leading scorer the week prior.

After a 14-1 start, the Griffins dropped back-to-back games to Platte County and St. Joseph Benton. How did they respond? By winning three in a row. Ky Coleman is leading the team with 14.9 points per game.

The Bulldogs took third place at the North Kansas City Tournament and then followed by winning five of the next six.

The Spartans' three losses were against Kickapoo, Lee's Summit West and Webster Groves by a combined 15 points. De Smet goes into a Jan. 17 matchup against Confluence with eight wins in its last nine games, including victories against Lindbergh, Vianney, CBC and Chaminade during that stretch.

The Crusaders have won seven in a row and nine of their past 10 games. That included Alex Schonhardt hitting a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Jefferson City on Feb. 1.

The Bulldogs won the St. James Invitational with victories over Sullivan, Waynesville and Fatima. However, Springfield Parkview and Lebanon have handed Rolla losses in back-to-back games.

The Lions caught a hot streak with five wins in a row, including against Borgia and Father Tolton – both teams that have been in the top 25 at one point this year. Ritter rallied back from a rough start but lost to Thornton (Chicago, Ill.), one of the top teams in Illinois, on Saturday.
